My Naughty Little Sister

I finally got a better photo of this work which I made a couple of years ago. Actually this particular photo was taken by Janet Davis who was on the Fifth Sized Books project. I hung this piece in front of another work, “Aerial View of The River running through Pinwheel Land” whose triangular pieces you can see at either side. Never mind, it’s not a perfect world.

Thrilled to see this vibrant work at Farfield Mill. Dorothy Edwards was my mother and I am her Literary Executor. I am sure she would have been delighted that My Naughty Little Sister inspired you so much. It is one of my favourite stories. You can understand why a child would get carried away with the sound and feel of those sharp scissors cutting into those textiles. Wonderful observation. On her behalf may I thank you for your kind recognition.

Hi Frank, what a lovely surprise to get your message! I was thrilled to hear from you and delighted that you enjoyed seeing this piece of work at the exhibition at Farfield Mill. I am a real fan of your mother’s stories, I read them as a child and although I didn’t have children I read them often to my godson who is now 18 years old, and they were every bit as entertaining as the first time round! The stories are so full of kindness and humour that I can’t help but imagine that she must have been a great mum. Thank you so much for getting in touch and all best wishes, Betty Brown.
