Some ideas about patchwork.

So here’s what I started with, a new bag that is big enough to hold Fuji’s water bottle, plop bags,  a sketch book, pencil and camera!

I’m working towards a large textile piece. I’ve been looking at lots of patchwork online, I don’t fancy the very regular repeats but like the idea of working with triangles because they are quite versatile and you can use them in many different ways. I want to move around between more formal and less distinguishable patterns and I think they could be a good vehicle for this. Also I want to be able to sew it by machine, I no longer have the patience for hand-sewing a large work constructed out of small pieces.

I’ve been playing with paper collage to get a feel for it. The following collages are all in a book that is slightly larger than A4. You’ll see they eventuate into squares and then into other!
